Forgiveness isn’t a feeling.

It’s a spiritual action.

The primary word that translates “forgive” means “to send forth.” To send forth requires action. We can’t wait for a feeling to accompany the truth. There are many passages on forgiveness, but I want to share Mark 11:25 and Matthew 6:15.

Mark 11:25 “And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins."

Matthew 6:15 “But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.”

Just from these 2 scriptures alone we see that forgiveness is a REALLY big deal to Jesus. We, as Christ Followers are not just recipients of God’s forgiveness…we are distributors. So that means, all throughout our lives we will need to ask for forgiveness, AND we need to extend forgiveness. Or we won’t receive it.

Forgiveness is essential to ANY relationship, but our closest of relationships are impossible without forgiveness.

Forgiveness means not making the offending party pay for the sins they committed.

Forgiveness is the willingness to let something go.

If forgiveness is deserved it’s not true forgiveness.

Forgive him.

Forgive her.

Forgive them.

Forgive yourself.

Move on.

There is healing in forgiveness.

Heavenly Father, Your word says if we confess our sins, You are faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. We thank You for that. Please help us to be obedient and to quickly forgive others when they have wronged us. Thank You for the power by Your Spirit to accomplish this. We want to live to honor You and glorify Your name. We ask this in the One Name Above All. Amen
