We will all experience suffering.

The bible says, “I told you these things so that in Me you may have peace. You WILL have suffering in this world.” Then in the same verse it says, “Be courageous! I have conquered the world.” John 16:33 HCSB

If we are to share in the glory; we are to share in the sufferings as well…

Let’s be honest, when we are suffering often we want to find a way out. And so…

…we have journals filled with questions.

…we have prayers pleading with God.

…we have hearts holding bitterness, doubt, fear, anxiety and worry.

So, I write to someone with a heart for Jesus who wonders how they will keep it or maybe even get it back…someone whose life depends on it. Whose health depends on it. Whose job depends on it. Whose family life depends on it. Whose sanity depends on it.

I’ve been you.

I’m still you.

I wonder what would happen if we trusted God in our hard places…in our suffering? He says…

…these sufferings are nothing or not worth comparing with the glory that WILL be revealed to us. Romans 8:18- paraphrase mine

How we handle sufferings are opportunities to show the difference Jesus makes in us and our lives, even with all the sufferings will either cast light or cast shadows. Which one is yours casting?
